Gen Bryant Concert
Last Thursday the students were very fortunate to experience the contemporary Christian musician, Gen Bryant live in concert.
It was wonderful to see the students so engaged, singing and dancing along to the beautiful songs sung by Gen and the band such as "Send Us Out" and "Raise Your Voice".
The Year 5/6 students then had a songwriting work shop with Gen and the crew, where they started putting down their ideas and planting the seeds of the beginning of our very own Holy Family school song.
Season of Creation
September marks the beginning of Spring and the celebration of the Season of Creation within the Catholic tradition.
This term, the Year 1/2 class have been learning about Creation and exploring big concepts such as how they can be stewards of creation within the Catholic Tradition whilst reflecting on their relationships with God, self, others and creation.
I decided to interview some students to see what they had to say.
The students were asked what they could do to care for Creation and here were some
of their responses:
"I love how God created the world!"
Aanaya
"If trash is on the ground...the Earth is not a trash can!"
Abuk
"We can take care of the animals"
Bella
"We can free the stuck (caged) animals"
Kevin
"We can do what God says by being kind"
Avaree
"If you cut down any nature you have to plant it back"
Jayden
"By picking up rubbish and putting them in the rubbish bin. Don't buy too much stuff because it makes a lot of rubbish "
Xavier
"We can pick up rubbish on the beach to help the environment"
Kaiser
"I can care for the Earth by putting recycling in the bin"
Akaash
So during this season of Creation consider what you are doing at home as a family to care for the Earth - this special and beautiful gift that God has given us all to look after.
