The St James Great Book Swap

This was a HUGE success with more donations than book purchases.  

Gold coin donations collected support the work of the Indigenous Literacy Foundation.  Donations help provide books, books in First Languages, and learning resources to children and families living in remote Communities across Australia.

          Mathematics - Reviewing and Retrieving 

At St James we have been doing lots of work on Reviewing and Retrieving to help us be better learners. As learners, we are encouraged to retrieve previously learned information. This helps to store the information in our Long Term Memory to demonstrate that we have not forgotten this taught information. Here is a snapshot of what Retrieval Practice is all about. 

Retrieval practice:

• is a part of our classroom practice and routines

• is a learning strategy 

• includes fluency and practice,  recall and the application of previously taught concepts and skills

• enables learners to remember more and forget less

• uses a variety of strategies, including Daily Review
