Principal's Post

Dear Families,

Welcome to Week 10, our final week of Term 3! This week will be a busy one with our Art Show final opening day followed by the pack up. We then have our Learning Conferences and of course no official classes on Friday.

Anita Dell'Orso has taken leave this week and is currently overseas with her husband.

Cassie McCafferty commences her parental Leave on Wednesday afternoon. We wish Cassie all the best after a massive effort to coordinate the Art Show. Louisa Norwell, who is well known amongst our St James staff and students,  will replace Cassie and teach Visual Art throughout Term Four.

At last week's School Advisory Council meeting, we finalised the new school fee structure for 2025 and beyond. Please keep an eye out for communication via Operoo later this week.

Please note that unless you have a prior arrangement or a direct debit payment plan, all fees must be finalised by the end of this term, as per our enrolment agreement

St James Art Show

Our Opening Ceremony was a great success and well attended. Thank you to those of you who were able to join us at the ceremony or one of our many viewing sessions. We were delighted to have Michael Sukkar, Prue Cutts, John Mullahey and Richard Welch in attendance at our viewing sessions. We are so proud of all the students for their wonderful creations.

Footy Colours Day Thursday 19 September

All students are invited to wear colours or uniforms of their favourite or a chosen footy code: AFL, AFLW, Rugby League, Rugby Union, Soccer.

We ask for a GOLD COIN DONATION to be handed in on Thursday to class teachers.

Division Athletics

Congratulations to our students who qualified for the Division Athletics following a top performance in the District event held last Tuesday at the Tom Kelly Doncaster Athletics track.

Catherine Wall organised a smoothly run carnival day as our District coordinator. Thanks Catherine for taking the extra time to ensure students at the 12 schools in our Division had the opportunity to represent their school and participate in an athletics carnival.

Look out for further information on the Physical Education page today and in communications next term.

Afternoon/Twilight Sports Carnival

Thursday 31st October, 1.30pm - 4.30pm.

This is a new trial time which we may introduce on a rotating biennial system.

Next year we plan to rotate to the 4.30pm - 7.30pm time slot.

We will bus the students to the Bill Sewart Athletics Track and parents are expected to collect their children at the conclusion of the event. Of course many parents will take up the invitation to come along and view the sports.

Look out for further information in the coming newsletters.

School Hats & Sun Smart

Hats are back on! From September 1st, all students are expected to wear their school hats when outdoors during breaks and learning times. Please ensure that your child's hat is labelled. Our 'No hat, no play policy', ensures that students are protected from the sun's rays if they don't have their hat at school to wear.

Marathon Club

Please note that Marathon Club will not run for the rest of the term. Rest up and be ready to lace up those running shoes in the 2nd week of Term 4, Wednesday 16 October

MACSSIS Surveys

We appreciate those of you who have already completed the survey. However, only 55 out of our 241 families have responded so far. We kindly ask everyone to take a few minutes tonight to complete it. On average, it takes just 9 minutes to complete.

As a thank you, students from families who complete the survey will receive a free lamington on Thursday, September 19th, our last day of term. Once you’ve completed the survey, please fill out this Google form which will assist us in distributing the lamingtons.
