As the term winds down, students across all year levels are putting the finishing touches on their incredible projects.
Foundation students have been busy creating vibrant habitats for their colourful chameleons, while the 1/2s have drawn inspiration from artist Wassily Kandinsky, using music as a spark for their creative artworks.
Our 3/4s have completed their unique Ugly Dolls, which are now heading home—be sure to check out their imaginative designs!
The 5/6s have been hard at work adding final details to their steampunk tiles, using dry brushing techniques to give them a rusted, industrial look.
The Visual Arts room is currently in need of thread, wool, and string as we plan to introduce weaving to the 1/2s next term. Any donations would be greatly appreciated!
We have been busy in the Performing Arts Room dancing, singing and playing percussion instruments. And that’s just the warmups!
Years 3-6 have spent the last few weeks firstly acting (and improvising) in our feature-length (almost) movie “Battle of The Planets” (previously called Sound and Vision). We have used green screens, locations and dance moves to create the Interplanetary Dance Competition where 7 planets compete for the Ultimate Dance Trophy only to be sabotaged by the evil mastermind called the Lord Commander. Though we have only a rough edit at the moment hopefully we be able to share it soon.
Meanwhile students are working on their own short films to complement the movie as “Offshoots”
The junior grades continued working on their puppet craft and creating a short play to present to the class. We have filmed these, and they are almost ready to share. We had a lot of fun creating characters, changing voices and trying to get our puppets to stand up straight.
Next term we are going to begin with the annual Lip Sync Battles which the students always look forward to. Students pick a song and dress up so they can mime along to it. And we film it in front of a green screen so they can design their own backdrop. Some of the students already know what song they are doing. But if they are thinking about it over the holidays they must remember it’s in year levels.
Have a great holiday and keep on dancing!
