President's Report

Tina King- APF Victorian President

The term break may seem like a distant memory as leaders are well and truly entrenched in the demands of the term.  The last term of the school year is undeniably the busiest with a confluence of academic, extracurricular and administrative responsibilities.

We are cognisant of the demands and pressures upon school leaders; however we extend a reminder to ensure that you are looking after your own wellness and wellbeing before taking care of others.  It is in this spirit that we encourage you to take time out of your busy schedule and urge you to attend our upcoming seminar on Leading with Hope & Optimism.  Registrations are closing by the end of this week, and we invite and encourage you to come along for a day of learning, collaboration and fun interactions.  The information flyer and registration form are included in this newsletter and also available by visiting our website at www.apf.net.au

I have already had opportunity to directly engage with the new Deputy Premier and Education Minister the Hon. Ben Carroll.  It was indeed very impressive to have the Minister, within weeks into his portfolio, reach out for an opportunity for an introductory chat and brief discussion on matters facing our schools and in particular school leaders.  We are very much looking forward to working in collaboration with the Minister to ensure continued growth and strong holding of our great and innovative government school system.

Opportunity has also presented to meet with the Federal Education Minister, Jason Clare this week.  The National School Reform Agreement (NSRA) which outlines the joint agreements between the Commonwealth, States and Territories to lift student outcomes and the National Teacher Workforce Action Plan aimed at addressing the national issues of workforce shortages will be high on the agenda.
