Principal's Blog

5th October, 2023

Dear Parents, Carers, Students, Staff and Friends of Derinya,

Welcome to Term 4. I hope you all enjoyed a lovely holiday break in the beautiful sunshine that we were provided.

Team Japan

The sixteen students and four staff who have headed over to Japan have arrived safely and have very much enjoyed their first few days of adventure.

Uniform

It has been great to see most children have been able to locate their hats as we head toward the warmer months. It is expected that all children will have a Derinya hat by next week. Can I please ask for the support of all families in ensuring children present in school uniform daily. If something prevents this, please send along a short note of explanation. The correct Derinya jackets and jumpers are appreciated, and the wearing of hats is compulsory in Term 4.

Lost Property

I am very excited to share that we have a new location for lost property. If your child has lost an item of clothing, sports equipment, drink bottle, lunch box or personal item and it isn’t labelled you will be able to visit the lost property store that is located just outside the staff room. The room should be open at the beginning and end of day. This space will also house our second-hand uniform. This will be clearly labelled so as not to be confused with lost property.

Preparations for 2024

As we head towards 2024, arrangements are underway to finalise school structures. If you have any educational concerns regarding class placement, please forward these directly to Nadine.Pye@education.vic.gov.au by Friday 20th October.

Facilities & Wheelathon

Our new oval surface is looking fantastic. The children are particularly loving the new running track. We are looking forward to the official opening on Friday 20th October, the day of our Wheelathon. Information is coming home today about this so that you can be involved in raising much needed funds for children in need.

Wishing everyone a fantastic weekend ahead and a wonderful term 4.

Kind Regards,

Nadine
