OUR FAITH

PRAYER

Loving God,

Open our hearts to you word, O Lord, that we may be renewed.

Open our hands to receive and to give, that we may be replenished.

Open our minds to the silence of Your presence, that we may be refreshed

Amen

We pray ...

for..... all who are experiencing loss and devastation as a result of the Moroccan earthquake and the floods in Libya, and for all Year 12 students in particular the McCarthy Catholic College students as they embark on completing their final days of schooling,

SACRAMENTS

Confirmation Retreat Day

The Confirmation Retreat Day was a great success thanks to the many who volunteered their time and services. Our thanks also must go to Fr Chris, Year 6 teaching staff and the ten McCarthy Catholic College students who were able to give their own personal insights and reflections about Confirmation and their faith life.

The Sacrament of Confirmation

Congratulations to the children who celebrated the Sacrament of Confirmation last weekend. This was a most wonderful occasion for the students and their families. The children were appropriately dressed and we thank our parents for their support. A very big thank you and special mention must go to Fr Chris for the manner in which he made each Mass so memorable and special for our children, their families and all in attendance. We also thank the Altar servers for their dedication and commitment to our Parish Confirmation Masses. Thank you also to the Parish choir for supporting our children and for the many members of our Parish and school who have been praying for our children. Mrs Elliott, Mrs Kelly, Miss Constable, Mr Unwin, Mrs Henry and Miss Hayes also need to be thanked for ensuring that our students were well prepared for this important occasion. We pray that the Holy Spirit will work through them as they continue to seek and continually use the gifts of the Holy Spirit in everyday life.

CATHOLIC MISSION

October is Mission Month – Advanced Notice

This year’s Catholic Mission theme is 'Kick Goals For Good in 2023'. Catholic Mission is asking that we join others throughout Australia to learn more about issues of mission and justice and to reach out to the children in Timor-Leste in an effort to support a brighter future. To support Catholic Mission Month our school will be having a “Crazy Socktober Day” on Friday 20th October where the students will be allowed to wear colourful and outrageous socks to school for the day. The students are asked to bring a gold coin donation to school on this day to help raise funds and awareness of how all children have the right to a brighter future. More information about Catholic Mission can be found at https://www.socktober.org.au/

October – Decade a Day

Come October and our school will undertake the praying of the Rosary each day. Beginning the first day of Term 4 each grade will take turns and pray a decade of the Rosary. You to may like to do this in your homes. The Rosary helps us to see our human lives in the light of Christ. It is a prayer that can be prayed at any time; however its simplicity and repetition make the Rosary particularly helpful in life’s pauses, journeys and moments of waiting.
