YEAR 5 AND 6 INTERSCHOOL SPORTS

The Year five and six students participated in their final day of Summer Sport this week. It was a great day and all of the students had the opportunity to compete with their team against students from other local schools. Please read below to hear some thoughts from the students.

SOFTBALL

In the first 3 games in week one we won all of our games. We had an amazing bus ride on the second week with luxuries interior and some of us even think it gave us good luck and, we were right. In the first match we yet again we played Whitehorse and we won 21-8. We had a little break and then played Orchard grove and beat them 25-15 followed by Whitehorse one and luckily beat them 18- 8. We are all pretty confident that we went through.

BASKETBALL

Basketball was a fun and exciting experience for both the boys and girls. Each team tried their best to win, but sadly none of the teams made it to District. We versed Livingstone, Mitcham, Parkmore and showed respect to each other and our opponents. Even though we lost, we never gave up and kept on improving ourselves each game.

TENNIS

When we first arrived at the tennis courts, we were all very curious about how well we would do and which school would win at the end. There were three schools in total at the tennis courts: Vermont, Livingstone and Mitcham. Everyone was very excited about the games. Summer sports day 1 was quite a fine day and at first we all thought that Vermont would get first place but unfortunately, we got beaten by Livingstone and came second place instead. For summer sports 2, it was also quite successful because quite a lot of people won all their rounds. At the end of the day we were all proud of our team and we tried our best of what we could do. Tennis was quite enjoyable and a good experience for most of the players.

CRICKET

For Summer Sports, cricketers went to Ballyshannassy Park to compete against other schools in the Nunawading district. Both days we were lucky to have had sunny weather which was beautiful for a day of cricket. All the teams had an enjoyable experience regardless of the outcome of the matches which were full of fun and excitement. Everyone had a try at the great sport which resulted in the bus ride back being filled with cheers and chants. Good luck to Team 1 as they have progressed to the next stage. A special thank you to Mr Walsh and Mr Bird for helping us on the day.

FRISBEE

It was a very hot day at Mahoneys Reserve as we played frisbee. The conditions were good though for playing frisbee and having fun. When we lost a game, Mr Sadler told us we had to keep the smile on our face and that made us feel encouraged. At the end, Mr Souter announced the results. We were really happy to hear that Vermont had been very close to being the top performers in Frisbee. We enjoyed the day overall and had lots of fun. We would like to say a very big thank you to Mr Souter, Mr Sadler and Mr Alison for assisting on the day.

VOLLEYBALL

We had an amazing experience playing Volleyball as our Summer Sport this year, and enjoyed it thoroughly. We had 3 other schools who we versed against, and had tons of fun- trying our very best and playing not to win, but for the excitement and happiness. It was very cool to see all our friends from different schools and to verse them even though it was quite competitive. In spite of the hot climate, we carried on and had fun, making new friends and learning new things. A special thank you to Mrs Prentice, Mrs McConachy, Ms Parker and Ms Yates for the training and help on the days.
