MARKET DAY

The day finally arrived and on Thursday, the Year Five students held an extremely successful Market Day! After exploring the topic of economics throughout the term, they were given the opportunity to develop a product and sell it at their market stall. We have been so proud of the way they collaborated with their group and worked through the task, from the concept stage to the actual selling of the product, and everything in between! A huge thanks needs to go to all of the Year 5 families, as without your help, this amazing event would not have been possible.

Along with the great real world learning associated with this project, the students have also managed to raise some much needed money for the charity. They were very excited to hear that as a group, they raised a little over $3000 (still balancing the final figures) for Backpack Beds for Homeless. This is an amazing amount that they should be very proud of and it is definitely an amount that will make a real difference for people in need.

SCIENCE WEEK

The students had a lot of fun participating in a number of events during Science Week! On the Wednesday, they participated in three different activities that explored different elements of chemical science. It was also great to see a number of Year 5 and Six students take the opportunity to be leaders and assistant leaders on the day. Their help was invaluable as they helped to run and explain the different activities.

On the Thursday, the whole school took turns to head to the stadium and participate in a fun filled incursion that highlighted a number of different scientific principles. The presenters showed different areas of science and explained how they related to Indigenous Australians’ understanding and use of fire, flight and sound. It was a highly interactive and fun incursion.

The week culminated in a Science Expo that showcased some of the scientific learning that has occurred throughout Term Three. Each Level had the opportunity to share experiments, activities and results from their Term Three science lessons. It was fantastic to see the Grade Five and Six students enjoying their time looking at the other Levels’ work and also proudly sharing their own knowledge.
