Year 9 Community Project

Celebrating Year 9 students' Community Project Journey

We want to take a moment to celebrate the incredible journey our students have embarked upon over the past months. Year 9 students have poured their hearts and souls into their Community Projects, and their dedication is truly commendable.

In the action phase of their projects, our Year 9 students demonstrated extraordinary creativity and commitment. They organized market stalls, ventured into the community to visit Mecwacare aged care home, created an eye-catching mental health awareness interactive wall, hosted an entertaining movie night, showcased their talents in a talent show, and even championed sustainability by crafting e-waste bins. By living Christ's mission, our students are not just learning about the world; they are actively engaging with it to make a positive difference. Their dedication reflects the values of grace, respect, integrity, and courage that we hold dear at Good News Lutheran College.

As we approach the Year 9 Community Project Showcase, it's essential to emphasize the significance of reflection as one of the most critical elements of the Community Project journey. It's a time for students to pause and ask themselves thought-provoking questions such as:

  • What have we learned about ourselves and the world around us?
  • How can we carry the lessons from this project into our future endeavours?

Through these questions, our students gain a deeper understanding of their projects' real-world implications and their role as responsible citizens in our community.

Save the Date: November 1st for the Year 9 Community Project Showcase!

Now, the moment you've been waiting for—the Year 9 Community Project Showcase will take place on November 1st. This event is an opportunity for our students to share their remarkable projects, insights, and personal growth with our community. We encourage all Year 9 families to mark their calendars for this special occasion. It's a chance to witness the passion and commitment of our students as they present their projects, reinforcing our school's dedication to holistic education.

As the MYP Coordinator, I am immensely proud of our Year 9 students and their achievements in the Community Project. Their hard work, creativity, and engagement have exemplified the values we hold dear at our college.

We look forward to seeing you on November 1st as we celebrate the impact our students have made and continue to inspire them to be the change-makers of tomorrow.
