Year 1/2 Report

This week, we have been consolidating our Literacy skills through Reader's Theatre and have been exploring Capacity in Numeracy.

Readers' Theatre: Where Reading Comes to Life

Our students recently dove into Readers' Theatre, and it's been a total hoot. They're not just reading stories; they're practically starring in them! Seriously, it's like their own little Broadway. This approach is all about cranking up their reading game, getting them to talk, and even think like characters. Students are able to practise their Fluency skills, such as voice projection, tone, accuracy and expression. Plus, teamwork is on the menu as they cook up performances together. It's been a real eye-opener to see our young talents shine.

Numeracy: Capacity

In Numeracy, we have been exploring the concept of Capacity to develop a solid maths foundation, practical problem-solving skills, and an appreciation for the world of numbers. Students have been utilising the sand pit and water spaces to explore Capacity, engaging in hands-on experience to compare the capacity of different containers. These classroom problems have challenged students to apply skills and extend their thinking when solving real-world scenarios.

Thank you for your continued support at home. Feel free to chat with your child about their adventures in Readers' Theatre and the capacity of containers.
