Gratitude and the Power of Prayer
Being truly thankful requires us to look beyond our current circumstances - whether blessings or struggles - and look to God, our true source of blessings. It's easy to give thanks to God when we can physically see and touch his blessings - food, money, clothes, good health, family...but what happens when feeling thankful is hard? How can we truly live a thankful life?
Sometimes life gets us down and we find it hard to see things to be thankful for. This is often true when life gets too busy. May we open our eyes to see the gifts God given us in our lives.
Our College is named after The Holy Family of Nazareth - Jesus, Mary and Joseph. We look to them for inspiration. May the Holy Family always be our inspiration and guide, especially for the Year 12s not just for their time at the College (they finish classes next week!) but for the rest of their lives. May we especially keep the Year 12s in our prayers in their last term at the College.
The Holy Family were always attentive to the will of God through prayer. May all of us always be people of prayer. October is the month of the Rosary. This beautiful prayer focuses on the intercessory power of Mary. It shows that when Christians are in danger, they can go to Mary. And when an individual is in pain, discouraged, or having trouble accepting God’s will, he or she can also go to Mary. She will pray to her Son for anyone who calls on her. Anyone who prays to Mary no longer feels alone because she prays with them and for them.
May we especially pray for the Class of 2023 who are graduating next week. We pray in thanks for their generous contribution to the College. May they continue to grow in faith, hope and love, to live their faith in their words and actions.
Holy Family of Nazareth – Be our inspiration and our guide.
Jesus of Nazareth – Help us to grow in faith, wisdom and knowledge.
