Rounding Out Book Week

On Thursday we had Heidi entertain us with Frank’s Red Hat. She had the full attention of everyone.

Jess finished up the week with Where the lyrebird lives. She began by asking students what they knew about lyrebirds. Tom was right onto her, he knew the lyrebird was on the ten cent piece.

Book Recommendation

Sam recommended the book titled “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe” by C.S. Lewis. This is an adventure that takes Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy from the wardrobe to a magical land of Narnia. Sam highly recommends this book.

Traditional Owner Presentation

On Monday, traditional owner, Troy provided us with a greater understanding of the Dja Dja Wurrung Culture and its purpose in our world. After the presentation a smoking ceremony was held. We all walked through the smoke to cleanse ourselves.

Vision Screening

This Friday students, with permission, will have Free Vision Screening, thanks to the Lions Eye Health Program. The screening will be conducted by trained LEHP Vision Screeners from within Lions Club District of 201 V1-4.

Parent-Student-Teacher Conferences

Many thanks to everyone who made the time to attend the conferences last Wednesday or have made an alternative time to discuss their child/ren’s learning. It is important that the children get to share what they are doing with you.

Open Numeracy Classes

Next Wednesday, September 6th Parents, Grandparents and family friends of our F-6 students are invited into our classrooms between 9.15am and 10.55am to see the structure of numeracy lessons in 2023. We are hoping the special visitors will share their experience of when they were at Primary School.

Students looked through a “Window on the World” in our session today. They made and decorated their own window, and whilst in the vegetable garden they placed the window in numerous places to zoom in on what they could see. They found insects, worms, eaten leaves, dry straw, a bone and sticks, old vegetable remnants and a whole lot more.
