Year Four News

This fortnight, the Year 4s have continued their learning about Puppets. The students have begun working in small groups to plan and write the script for a fractured fairy-tale that will be presented later this term as a puppet show. They also enjoyed making a puppet with John from Don't Move Puppet Shows. The process, as can be seen in the photos below, involved cutting the body parts to shape, selecting the features for the puppet, waiting the looooooooooong 3 minutes for the glue to dry and finally introducing their puppet to each other.

This week, we concluded our maths unit on 'money' by undertaking a small group project in which the students were required to create a financial plan, pretending they were going to bake a product that could be sold to all the grade 4 students. This required selecting a recipe, multiplying the ingredients to serve 125 students, calculating the cost price of the ingredients, determining the selling price and dividing the profit between the members of the group. We also got out the scales and weights to learn about mass.

Time to open the dress up boxes - our annual BOOK WEEK PARADE is next Monday - 21st August. We're looking forward to seeing an awesome array of book characters from all the Year 3 and 4 students!

Science week concludes at Vermont Primary with our whole school Science Expo on Friday 8th September

Parents and carers are invited to come and experience each year level’s exploration of science and associated displays. The Expo will be open for families to view from 3pm until 5pm in the school stadium. A sausage sizzle will be available.

We look forward to seeing you then!

School Uniforms

A friendly reminder for students to please wear their school uniforms. We understand that the colder months mean that jackets are to be worn, however we ask that jumpers and

t-shirts are the school colours. There is a second-hand uniform shop available if you require a new uniform to keep your child warm!

If your child's hair is longer than their shoulders, please remember that it needs to be tied up at school.
