Sports Report

Intermediate Sport

On Wednesday 30th August, selected students from Years 9 and 10 represented Patterson River Secondary College at the Intermediate Boys Basketball Tournament at Frankston and District Basketball Association. Both ‘A’ and ‘B’ teams finished the day with a combination of wins and losses but overall, represented Patterson River Secondary College with pride. During the tournament, both teams competed in 5 rounds of basketball with minimal rest time between games. Despite this, the boys tried their hardest in each round and should be proud of their effort.

The ‘A’ team placed third overall and were unlucky not to make it to the play off for first or second place. I was super proud of the boys who displayed all the qualities of sportsmanship, they were a pleasure to watch on the day. In each round of basketball, I witnessed the team display fairness towards themselves and their opponents, a will to win and never give up attitude and incredible talent on the court.

Boys Basketball ‘B’ team Sports Report-by Kiara Clark and Charlize Herbu.

We helped coach the B team at the Year 9/10 Boys Basketball Competition. The boys came 2nd after just losing to EMC in the Grand Final, but they played amazing, and did really well listening to the coaches as well as encouraging their teammates. The boys improved throughout the day and learned to work more as a team as the day progressed. In the end, they displayed great sportsmanship and deserved to win. Thank you to all boys who assisted with scoring on the day.
