ATHLETE VISIT- TABITHA BETSON (Australian Basketball Representative)

Students in grade 4-6 were extremely fortunate to meet and engage with Australian Junior Represenative Basketball player Tabitha Betson during the week. Tabitha is completing her secondary school in the USA at the DME academy in Florida as part of a their Basketball program. She recently returned to Australia for a short break before heading back overseas to complete her final year of school before heading off to US College.

Tabitha spoke to the group about her journey through her junior program and the opportuntities that have been provided as well as how she dealt with the many challenges and setbacks along the way.  She also spoke to the students about the importance of being balanced and grounded in life and how mainting strong positive relationships with family and friends have helped her achieve success in her life to date. She placed huge importance on managing time to stay ahead of academics and spoke about the challeges when living away from home.

Students spent nearly an hour asking questions of interest and inquirying about strategies that could support them in the next step of their own life and for the goals they want to acheive.

At lunch students had the opportunity to engage in a skills based clinic tailored to what the students wanted with Tabitha. Shooting, footwork and passing were key features of the sessions with nearly 30 students keen to build their skills.  Tabitha's jounrey can be followed on Hudl link is below for all interested.
