Our Under 15s Boys Basketball Team had their NW Knockout journey cut short today after an impressive win to Farrer. Farrer were last year's NW champs and came 5th in the state. Our boys certainly had an experience today against this fine side and committed strongly to some hard work up and down the court. The GIHS boys must be commended for their commitment to training and the sportsmanship they all showed. They are a great bunch of young men and I’ve been impressed each and every time they have come together to play or train. Huge thanks to Donna McClelland who, with her vast basketball experience, coached and supported the boys. It is wonderful to have such positive links within our community to assist the athletic development of our young players.

Many thanks also to Mark McClelland and Dakota Hayden for umpiring.

With the continued commitment to local basketball from all interested parties the future growth of this sport in Glen Innes is both on the rise and in good hands.

National Cross Country Results:

Huge congratulations to these young athletes Mary and Kayden. Mary Arandale has trained tirelessly and expanded her talents in distance running this year. At the National Championships, she has achieved the place of 50th. In checking our GIHS record books this is a very rare achievement for a young woman from Glen Innes. Well done Mary - Be Proud!

Kayden Elliott has achieved well beyond his platform of excellence at regional and state level and on the National stage has come in at 10th place in his age group in Australia! Kayden is a wonderful role model to all young people as he has been so driven and worked diligently to gain such a phenomenal result. Glen Innes High School is so proud of both of these fine students and we are so appreciative of the input and systems of their local Training group “Campions Champions” which has contributed to their success and passion for running.
