Principal's Report
Parent or Caregiver Mobile Phone information.
In light of the new Department of Education guidelines regarding mobile devices, we would like to provide you with some essential information to ensure a smooth and parent-friendly implementation. Our aim is to foster a safe and productive learning environment for all students while maintaining open communication with parents.
Here are some key points we ask parents to keep in mind:
Communication through the school Front Office: Please use the school Front Office as the primary channel to pass on messages to your child during school hours (please be aware there is a telephone in every room and the school has an intercom system). In exceptional cases, students will be allowed to use a school phone under the supervision of the Deputy Principal.
Responsibility for Devices: Understand that the school cannot take responsibility for any loss or damage to personal electronic devices, including mobile phones.
Collaboration with School: We encourage you to work closely with the school in reinforcing Glen Innes High School's Mobile Phone (Personal Devices) Procedures with your child.
Device Usage During School Hours: Remind your child that all phones should be turned off and placed in their bags upon arrival at school. Devices should only be used when leaving the school premises at the end of the day.
Consequences for Students Using Phones at School:
Immediate Action: If a teacher or staff member requests it, students must promptly hand over their mobile phones or electronic devices to the Front Office, where they will be securely stored in a phone locker. Parents will be informed via email.
Level 2 Blue - Phone: Students who use phones during school hours will be placed on Level 2 Blue - Phone, which entails close monitoring of their phone usage for the next five school days. During this period, phones must be stored in the Front Office phone locker upon arrival at school.
Continued misuse of phones will result in an escalation through Glen Innes High School's Wellbeing System.
In certain cases where there are reasonable grounds to suspect inappropriate material on a device, Senior Executive staff may need to examine the device. Additionally, incidents involving bullying, threats, harassment, filming, photography, or displaying inappropriate material via a device will be addressed immediately and could result in police involvement.
We appreciate your cooperation and understanding as we strive to maintain a positive and focused learning environment at Glen Innes High School. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Farewell Year 12 70's Disco
This year the SRC organised and Farewell Year 12 Disco. The theme was 70's Disco. It was great to see so many students having a great time and dressing up. I would like to thank the staff and students who assisted in making the night a great success.
Year 12 Charity Day
On the last day of term 3, Year 12 will be holding their annual Charity Day. Students are encouraged to bring along some money to donate. All money donated will go to this year's charity - Dolly's Dream. All students wishing to participate are asked to bring a change of clothes as the activities may involve water and other fun, messy substances. Students who participate and don't bring a change of clothes will not be given permission to go home.
Please be aware that Charity Day is NOT a free dress day for students in Years 7-11.
