Whitehorse Heritage Week 2023 is coming up in September, where many community groups bring you an exciting program that investigates our collective history. This year’s theme is ‘All Aboard’, with plenty of opportunities to learn about how local transport has changed over time.

Whitehorse Historical Society is hosting Family Day at Schwerkolt Cottage, kickstarting the fun on Sunday 10 September. You can learn about heritage trades, and enjoy a program of live music, dancing and in-person demonstrations. Children will love the bubble artist, animal farm, art activities and old-fashioned games. Plus a special appearance of a heritage fire truck from the Fire Services Museum!

Looking for a tutor for secondary school?

  • Mr Cian Channon Ling
  •  Melbourne - Glen Waverley
  • Maths and Science tutor for Secondary School students

Melbourne tutor in Chemistry, Further Maths, General Science, Maths, Maths Methods. I travel to these locations: Glen Waverley, Vermont South, Eastern Suburbs, Melbourne CBD, Carlton, Melbourne Uni (3 student reviews)

Hello, my name is Cian Channon-Ling and I graduated from Virtual School Victoria in 2020, achieving an ATAR of 84.8. I currently have 3.5 years (600+ hours) of experience as a maths and science tutor. I'm currently in my 3rd year studying Science at the University of Melbourne and I’m majoring in Infection and Immunity.

I currently offer tutoring in mathematics for Secondary school students from Years 7-10 and I also offer tutoring for VCE Maths Methods, VCE General Maths and VCE Chemistry. Currently, I'm available to tutor at any day of the week afterschool for weekdays and anytime on weekends. Primarily, I offer in-person tutoring or in the State Library of Victoria but if that's not possible, I'm also open to online tutoring through Zoom as well.

I really enjoy tutoring because it's really rewarding when the students that I tutor improve on certain concepts in my maths and science tutoring sessions, particularly those that they've struggled with before they received tutoring and seeing them grow as a person is also really rewarding to watch too. I also enjoy it because of the one-on-one connection that I get with my students and getting to know them on a personal level as well.

During my very first lesson with you, I will spend the lesson getting to know you and the best ways for me to tutor you. I will also ask you about what your strengths and weaknesses are and the ways in which you best learn.

Here are the reasons why should you hire me as a tutor:

  • I go through concepts that are covered in the study design and ensure that you stay on top of the class-
  • I'll ensure that you understand every point that you need to understand from the study design-
  • I'll give you practice questions for you to work on and consolidate understanding-
  • I construct individualised plans where I focus on the needs specific to the student-
  • I'm very patient, kind and very supportive to my students-
  • Students that have worked with me have drastically improved in their confidence and abilities-
  • My students marks have also gone up quite a lot on tests

For those that are interested, please message me and we can have a chat about what your goals are and we'll go from there!!

Rates:

- $55 per hour (Online and In-person)

- $75 for 90 minutes

Where I tutor: For in-person tutoring, I tutor anywhere within 25 km from where I live (Glen Waverley), Melbourne CBD, and Melbourne Uni Library. For online tutoring, I tutor on Zoom.

I also hold a Working with Children's Check Card.

Thanks for reading my profile and if you would like tutoring from me, please give me a call or send me an email and I'll look forward to meeting you soon! :))

Experience

I've been tutoring around 35 students with 600+ hours of experience and I've helped them improve their skills on difficult concepts and applying the step-by-step method to ensure that they understand how to tackle certain mathematical problems and questions. This enables understanding of the logic and rationale on solving certain mathematical problems as well. To ensure that they improve their knowledge and skills, I gave them practice questions to work on and encouraging them to revise before an upcoming test or exam. I've also been very supportive and patient with them and encouraging them to pull through, even when things get tricky.

Qualifications

I've completed the VCE last year in 2020 and I've completed Maths Methods, Specialist Maths, Chemistry, Physics and English. I've also obtained an ATAR of 84.8.
