Junior School Tennis Championships
On a beautiful winter day at the hallowed Kambala courts, some of our best tennis players battled it out in our annual Junior School Tennis Championships. They were played with great spirit and determination with some impressive tennis skills on display.
The day kicked (served) off with the singles tournament with a total of 21 students fighting it out to be crowned Junior School Tennis Champion. After 26 games of tennis Clara Wu and Savanna Destro progressed to the final and produced an outstanding display of back and forth tennis that had the tennis coaches thoroughly impressed. Clara Wu emerged victorious after prevailing in a tie breaker. Congratulations to both athletes on an outstanding tournament.
It was now onto the doubles tournament to finish off what was already a great Tennis Championships. Eight teams were vying for the title of doubles champions and after some great action the team of Savanna Destro and Aurora Wang defeated the team of Olivia Li and Clara Wu to be crowned Junior School Doubles Champions for 2023.
Special thanks to Amanda for ensuring all the girls had plenty of opportunity to display their tennis prowess.
Congratulations to all students on what was a very enjoyable day.

Kambala 3 v KRB3
After claiming their first victory of the season last week with the assistance of the a few junior Kambala 4 team players, the Kambala 3 soccer team won their clash against our local rivals KRB on Saturday 29 August in perfect playing conditions at Lyne Park.
The Kambala 3 team went into the half time break down 1-nil and early into the second half they levelled the match after some deft passing from inside their box to get the ball to the opposition half and finally to Camille Herro who pegged a clear shot from 10m metres out straight into the back of the net. This spurred the opposition on, and had it not been for the guile, tenacity, fortitude, and courage of the Kambala goalkeeper Vy Vo (under the guidance of head coach Michele) making some fantastic and acrobatic saves to keep the opposition’s flurry of shot at bay.
The Kambala 3 countered the opposition's attempts with a fantastic shot from Nate Teen and put them into the lead with 6 minutes of play left. The opposition regrouped to pepper the Kambala goal but for some steely defence from Misha Heazlewood and Alex Cole the Kambala 3 team held on to claim a memorable and well deserved 2-1 victory.
Vy Vo’s stand out performance in goal saw her take out the team’s player of the week for the second time this season.

Club Netball Semi Final Results
Last Saturday 19 August was the semifinals for club netball. We had 8 teams playing; Kambala 1, 4, 6, 7, 11, 12, 13 and 14.
We had two teams progress straight to the Grand Final, Kambala 6 and Kambala 11 which is very exciting! Both teams have had an amazing season so far and we can’t wait to see them in the Grand Final on 2 September.
We have four teams playing in the preliminary finals this Saturday; Kambala 1, 12, 13 and 14. All four teams had great games on Saturday and we are excited to see them play and hopefully win and progress to the Grand Final.
Kambala 4 and 7 unfortunately lost on Saturday but both teams have had a great season.
Well done to all girls!

On Monday 21 August Grace Hyder Year 11 competed for IGSA at the CIS Netball challenge tournament at Netball Central. The IGSA team competed all day and won silver at the tournament which is a great achievement. We received reports from the coaching staff that Grace and the other IGSA girls were a pleasure to coach and showed such good sportsmanship on the day, playing any position they were asked. Well done Grace and team!
