Where Adventures Begin

News from the Kindergarten

Kew Traffic School

During Term 3, the Possum and Koala groups have been learning about road safety awareness. We have been discussing wearing seat belts in the car, crossing the road, holding an adults hand in a car park and wearing bike helmets properly. This week we have been able to practise these things at Kew Traffic School and our Bring your Bike days at Kindergarten.

During our outing to Kew Traffic School we were able to practice stopping at the lights, crossing at the crossings and staying on the correct side of the road. We also noticed other modes of transport such as trams, buses, and motorbikes and loved travelling on the MECS bus with bus driver Martin.

On the Bring your Bike day we were able to practice noticing how fast we are travelling on our bikes, and how to ride safely next to our friends. We have looked at bikes, and how they work, and learning to identify hazards so we can be safe. This learning links with VEYLDF Community and Wellbeing, as children begin to develop an understanding that living in a community means that people are connected to each other and follow rules for safety. This also connects with a Biblical understanding of God’s plan for people living in communities, and following His plan for us as His people.
