In Year 8 Indonesian we have been busy learning about Keluarga (Family). As well as studying Rumah Adat (Traditional Houses), we also had a look at Baju Adat (Traditional Costumes). Students were invited to create a traditional or modern fashion piece using batik designs.

This is my rumah adat (custom home) project for Indonesian. I have enjoyed following along with the video to create this visually attractive, intricate traditional style Indonesian house.

This is a Rumah Adat (Indonesian Traditional House) - a Minang House
It took me 3 lessons to make my rumah adat house. I found it stressful and inconvenient with sticking the template to the cardboard and trying to cut it out. But once Bu Tromp told me I could do it and helped me with some of the cutting I found it fun along the way. Whilst making this I thought in my head "It must have been so much easier to make the actual Indonesian houses instead of me making it out of cardboard!". But I have finished it and I am so grateful that I had people supporting me along the way. So, a big thanks to Bu Tromp and Kim Storie for cheering me on whilst making this rumah adat. I'm so glad I got to have a fun experience making it.

In Indonesian this term we have been learning about traditional Indonesian homes (Rumah Adat). So, for our Indonesian feedback task this term we were asked to make a traditional Indonesian home out of cardboard or paddle pop sticks in groups or by ourselves.
I decided to make a home out of cardboard by myself. It took me most of the lessons to cut out two of the walls and windows so I took it home on the weekend. Eventually it started to come together. This is what I came up with.

This is our traditional Indonesian house Made by Me (Levi), Ollie and Josiah
We made it from cardboard and hot glue. The reason it is yellow and green is because when we were done building it, It looked a little bit boring. So, we painted it, and now it is Indonesian sponge Bob.
