Well, 2024 is drawing to a close and it has been a wonderful year. We are looking forward to our final day with our Year 6s tomorrow and then heading off for a break before we launch ourselves into and fabulous 2025.
Today we achieved our annual SWPBS goal! We had a total of 21,350 positive acknowledgements at our school this year. An absolutely stellar performance by all our students! To celebrate Mr Whippy came to school today, parked on our basketball and we all enjoyed an ice cream together. Great work everyone!

It has just been announced that Kilsyth Primary School has been successful in our application for a Minor Capital Works Grant to upgrade our toilets in the Hall and Main Building. We are absolutely thrilled!!!
Planning the $490,000 project will begin in February and we are aiming to complete the project by the end of 2025. This is a major win for our school and will be the final part of a significant upgrade to our buildings that began with our carpeting and repainting early last year.
We also have a few small building works going on over the holidays.
Watch this space early next year as we share the planning process with you all.
Our School Council has decided to use a closed-circuit television (CCTV) system at our school.
Our school has an obligation to ensure the school environment is safe and secure, and fulfil our duty of care to students, staff and visitors. The CCTV system will assist our school to fulfil these obligations and to prevent and manage other inappropriate behaviour on school grounds, particularly outside of school hours. CCTV will also provide enhanced capability to protect our school’s assets against vandalism and theft.
We will follow Department of Education and Training policy requirements for the design, installation, management and use of the CCTV systems. This policy is available at: CCTV in Schools – Installation and Management.
We will also place a CCTV Privacy Notice on our school website with more information about our school’s use of CCTV before it is rolled out in Term 1, 2025.
If you have any questions or concerns at this stage, please contact our Business Manager, Maddy Meyland, via the school office.
A new school year is an exciting time for students and families, but it can be a big step – particularly for those starting Prep or moving to secondary school.
The Department of Education has published a webpage with resources and information to help you prepare for the new school year.
During the school holidays, please consider reading through the resources, which include:

With a new approach to our teaching coming in 2025 (a really exciting change with Structured Literacy and Numeracy with explicit instruction tiered support - more information to come in the new year), we are expecting some amazing learning for our students. Every year we set goals as part of our Annual Implementation Planning. For next year our focus will be on maximising growth for ALL students. 2025 is going to be a great year for KPS, and we are launching it with a new sign! I hope it puts a smile of pride on your face every time you drive past!
