For those of you in Foundation, the Discovery Centre last year, welcome to Grade 1/2 otherwise known as the Inquiry Centre and for those families in the Inquiry Centre, welcome back. We hope you had a restful break and are refreshed, ready for the 2025 school year.
The past two days, we have focused on settling in, learning about each other and establishing routines and expectations in our new classes. This is vital in supporting your child's learning growth, to be a successful learner who is ready to learn. Students have enjoyed morning circle (a berry Street practice) playing Maths games, getting to know their new classmates and starting their specialist classes.
Important Information
Students will begin to take home readers as well as their reading journal next week (Week 2). This will look a little different this year and students will take home 5 books for the week on a particular day, having a change over day. This means they will have 5 books in their reader bag at once. One reader for each week night. However, it is important to bring your orange folders in their bags daily. We recommend that your child reads aloud to you or to themselves nightly and fills in their reading journal. Either you or your child can do this, they do love to do it though... there is even nights of reading awards!! Next week in class we will explicitly teach students how to fill in their reading journal. This will be discussed more in depth at the 1/2 Info Night.

Reminders
- Please bring hats to school.
- Please bring a box of tissues to school for your child's class.
- At the start of the year, students are particularly hungry. Please send some extra fruit for students to snack on through the day.
- Take-home readers will begin in Week 2. Please bring orange folders to school.
