Physical Education and Sport

Welcome to PE 2025!
It’s shaping up to be an action packed Term One in PE, with so many different skills and techniques being investigated. Our new PE Teacher Andrew Whitby has joined Sue Elsbury in the PE Team, and he's thoroughly enjoyed getting to know the students, staff and wider school community here at ENPS over the last couple of weeks. Mr Whitby is also looking forward to being a part of all the sporting programs and events we have on this term, including the Year Four to Six Swimming Carnival next week!
In PE this term students will get the opportunity to explore a wide variety of skills and sports including:
Foundation: Tennis, Spatial awareness games, Locomotor skills, Ball skills and Dance
Year One: Tennis, Spatial awareness games, Locomotor skills, Ball skills and Dance

Week One - Tennis
This week in PE, students are learning all about Tennis. We are focusing on:
Grip, stance, scoring and rules of the game, and the skills of forehand, backhand, volley and serve.
The Year Three to Year Six students will continue focusing on tennis until Week Five, and will have an opportunity to utilise the local tennis courts. So please make sure you have your local walk permission forms completed by today, Friday 7th of February.
To add to the tennis fun, we are lucky enough to have Guccione Tennis coaches Chris and Anthony from Doutta Galla Tennis Club give our students lessons over the next few weeks. These lessons will be filled with fun games, learning tennis skills and being involved in discussions about tennis. If your child is interested in playing tennis the opportunity to attend an open day is coming up at Doutta Galla Tennis Club in Royal Ave, Essendon North, this Sunday the 9th of February. As a former tennis coach and huge tennis enthusiast, Mr Whitby can't recommend it highly enough! Please see the flyer below.
