Year Six

Once again, another Year Six cohort has kicked off their year with a memorable camp at Merricks! Thank you to all attendees and staff involved in making camp such a success, and to Eleanor from 6ZD for sharing her recap with us...
Peninsula Outdoors Camp at Merrick
This week, the Year Sixes travelled to Peninsula Outdoors in Merricks for Year Six camp.
Arriving
All the Year Sixes who wanted to go on camp had to arrive at school at 8:00am at the latest because we were aiming to depart at 8:30am. Everyone was nervous, thrilled and excited as we waited to board the two buses that would take us to camp.
Food
One of our favourite places on camp was the dining hall. The meals were always changing. For example, one day for breakfast might be scrambled eggs and toast. The next day it might be pancakes with strawberries. However, no matter what the food was, it always was delicious and left us full of energy.
Cabins
When we arrived at camp, we expected the cabins to serve the two needs we had: to give us a place to sleep and store our clothes, swimsuits, bags, hats, and anything else we had brought to camp. The camp exceeded expectations! The cabins consisted of two sets of bunk beds, nothing more. They were perfect.
Activities
Camp was full of activities. There were so many it was basically come back from one activity, go straight to the next. Some of our favourites were Snorkelling, Surfing and Orienteering. Some others included Snorkel Theory, Beach Free Time and normal Free Time.
Free Time
When we were not doing activities, getting ready or having a meal, we were doing Free Time. Although we were not allowed into our cabins, we could shower, play and explore the camp. There was a gaga pit, a basketball court, a box full of sports equipment and a dog named Daisy.
Spotlight
Spotlight is a game you play at night. You hide in the darkness with your flashlight. If one of the teachers finds you, you are out. You can only play it when it is nearly pitch dark, so a few of us decided not to play Spotlight.
We absolutely loved camp! It was so cool! We loved everything and everyone about it! The teachers, ENPS staff and the camp staff did an outstanding job of making sure we had a good time.
Thank you!
