Year Three

Reading the picture storybook "The Most Magnificent Thing" as a tuning-in activity played a key role in engaging Year Three students and setting the foundation for their inquiry into emotions in teamwork.
As part of the "Who We Are" unit, students collaborated to create a curious creature using craft materials. Through this activity, they explored various emotions experienced in teamwork, including excitement, happiness, perseverance, confidence, frustration, nervousness, exclusion and confusion.
A class discussion followed which helped students reflect on their feelings, contributions, successes, and challenges while working in groups.
They identified key teamwork skills:
Speaking kindly and encouraging others to foster a positive and happy connection.
Communication and negotiation to ensure everyone’s ideas and voice are respected and heard.
Taking turns for fairness and inclusivity.
Teamwork to promote cooperation and achieve shared goals.
This inquiry helped students understand emotions in group tasks and develop strategies for effective collaboration.
Below are photos of students working collaboratively with each other and showcasing their artistic skills.
