Assessment Days 2025
2025 ASSESSMENT DAYS
To begin the 2025 year, all students will take part in formal assessments which will inform teachers of the necessary information to support students in their learning.
There will be two scheduled Assessment Days - Wednesday 29th January and Thursday 30th January 2025 - where the children will only need to come into school for their individual testing time. This allows the classroom teachers to carry out the necessary tests with minimal disruption to the learning schedule.
Please note that OSHC will be available for both these days.
All children will then start school on Friday 31st January 2025.
The children will be assessed in English and Mathematics to find their point of need which will then inform the teachers of the necessary information to support students in their learning. Staff will continue to monitor students as they always do to ensure that all students receive suitable, targeted learning programs throughout the year.
The results from the Assessment Days will not be shared with parents at this stage as they will be used as a starting point for teachers to monitor students' growth.
Parents will receive an invitation via email to select a time in a Google Doc.
Teachers assess and monitor learning progress against the achievement standards in the following curriculum frameworks the Victorian Curriculum F-10. They use both ongoing formative and summative methods and processes to ensure consistency of judgement.
Teachers use a wide range of assessment practices/applications to ensure the following effective reporting practices are in place:
- Assessment is Focused on Growth; respecting the unique dignity of each learner through assessment opportunities.
- Assessment is Relational; providing a strong foundation for authentic dialogue about learning progress between teachers, students and families.
- Assessment is Ongoing, and Continuous; providing accurate and timely forward-focused feedback.
