Principal's Message

A message from our Principal

Dear Families,

Although the 2025 school year is quickly coming to a conclusion, we continue to have many events taking place across the school.

We recently held a 2025 Foundation Parent Information session. This well attended session provided new families with insights into our school and strategies on how to best support their child to make a positive start in 2025.

This week we also had our 2025 Foundation students attend a ‘step up’ morning at our school. It was fantastic to see our new WVPS community members onsite spending time with their Foundation teachers for 2025.

As we look towards the final week of term, we have many exciting events scheduled including our final school assembly, Spelling Bee Finals, Year 6 Graduation and Adventure Park celebration.

Farewells:

With this being the final newsletter for the 2024 school year, I would like to acknowledge our Year 6 students who will be transitioning into high school next year. Thank you for the positive impact you have had on WVPS across the years. I am sure the understandings you have developed across the years at WVPS will provide a strong platform to successfully transition into these new learning environments. Good luck in the future.

I would also like to say a farewell to any other students throughout the school who may be leaving WVPS at the conclusion of the year. We wish you all the best in your future learning journeys.

We also have some staff who will be leaving us at the conclusion of the year. I would like to thank them for all their contributions in supporting the students and families of WVPS in their time here.

Thank you to the following staff and we wish you all the best with your future endeavours:

Raquel Romano

Matthew Scott

Sujata Mudaliar

Steven Skinner

Charlotte Burns

Joe Murphy

Pawani Kohli

Sam Reid

Erica Vandy

Sarah Henderson (ES)

Priscilla Purnwantoro (ES)

Final Day Information:

Just a reminder school concludes on Friday 20th December with an earlier dismissal time of 1:15pm. Please ensure appropriate arrangements are made to collect your child at this earlier time.

Please note given the earlier dismissal time, students will only require snack on this day.

Students are welcome to wear casual dress clothing for this day, however clothing must cover shoulders (no singlets/tank tops) and students must wear appropriate footwear (no slides/thongs/crocs).

Thank you:

With the year concluding I would like to take the opportunity to thank everyone for being so welcoming and supportive since I joined the school in July. I have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know more about the school and our students, staff and families.

With Sue Seneviratne recently advising of her retirement, I am pleased to announce that I will be continuing in the current role of Acting Principal in Term 1 2025, and I am really excited about what the future holds for WVPS.

I would like to say a special thank you to our families for the great support they have continually provided to school, the staff and most importantly their children.

Thank you to the wonderful staff we have at WVPS. We are very fortunate to have a group of educators who continually provide support and care for our great cohort of learners.

Finally, I would like to thank our students for their wonderful approach they display to their schooling. I am continually impressed by their ability to uphold our school values of respect, responsibility and honesty as part of their daily learning experiences. Looking forward, I am excited to see our WVPS students continue to grow and develop in the years to come.

I wish everyone a safe and happy holiday break and look forward to seeing everyone back onsite at WVPS next year.

Chris Johns
