Building and Grounds

Changes to the Building and Grounds Committee next year
Our large school oval, beautiful woodlands area, Yakai Barring and our various productive gardens require a lot of collective effort to keep them thriving. To reduce time commitments and tap into our diverse range of interests and skill sets we will be splitting the Buildings and Grounds Committee into three groups for 2025 – and we are recruiting new members for all groups!
Buildings and Grounds (Strategic) Committee
The strategic committee provides a voice for parents/carers to progress ideas to improve our school grounds. This group will identify and prioritise projects, seek funding and grants and report back to the School Council. Commitment is 2-3 hours per term to attend the meeting and assist with ad hoc administrative/coordination tasks.
Grounds Lovers Group
This group is for all those practical and hands-on people with hard skills or labour/tools they are happy to share at working bees but who don’t want to sit in meetings. This group will support working bees and other one-off projects around the school grounds. Working bee frequency is one per term.
Yakai Barring 10 Year Celebration Organising Group
Yakai Barring is turning 10 in 2025! We are aiming for a term 4 celebration so there is plenty of time, but we need your good ideas and energy. Meeting frequency yet to be determined.
Please express your interest for any of these groups by adding your name here https://volunteersignup.org/BK9FP
Last but not least, we want to thank Bec Hendy and Alicia Flynn for your leadership on the committee these past few years – thanks to your persistence, generosity and practical solutions we have a Gaga Pit, shade sails, chickens, a buddy bench and new planting in Yakai Barring.
We hope you all have a lovely summer holiday, and we hope to see lots of new faces in 2025.
