OSHC

Wominjeka Everyone,
Heading into the summer holidays, we’re mindful of the fact that children will likely be having some extra screen time. Movies and games can be a fun way to relax, but it can also be difficult to manage internet usage and safety. The internet can be a difficult thing to navigate and unfortunately, there is a lot of content out there that may appear to be for kids but is not. As you may have seen in the news, from next year social media will be banned for children under 16 in Australia. Although this will help eliminate some dangers online, it is still important for adults to stay educated and vigilant of their children's technology usage, as sadly it is impossible to fully eradicate the dangers. We have complied some resources surrounding cyber safety facts and tips to help you keep your child safe this summer. We strongly encourage you to use the conversation starters to open a dialogue with your child as, although it can be difficult to prevent them seeing something that could make them feel uncomfortable or unsafe, it is crucial they know what to do if something does go wrong.
These things can be confronting, so we are here to support you. Please reach out if you need help, or contact Parentline on 13 22 89 or Lifeline on 13 11 14. We hope that you and your children have a safe and happy summer. ☀️
