From the Year 3 Classroom

Week Five is here already, the term is certainly underway with lots of fabulous learning in Year Three. Hope you all enjoyed the long weekend and the short week ahead! We wish Levi all the best at State Athletics on Thursday. We will be cheering you on.
Reading
We conclude our class novel ‘The One & Only Ivan’ this week. Students enjoyed this text. For the next few weeks, we will be exploring non-fiction texts on different countries which connects with our writing and Inquiry work.
Writing
Should animals be used in circuses? This is the writing topic we’ve been exploring in our sessions. Students have been using a range of powerful persuasive devices—including emotive language, rhetorical questions, facts, and opinions—to convince readers why animals should not be kept for entertainment. We’ll continue developing these pieces before moving into the editing and revising stages, leading to publishing.
Maths- Chance & Probability
In Year 3, students begin to explore the concept of chance by identifying and describing the likelihood of everyday events. They use terms such as certain, likely, unlikely, and impossible to express and compare probabilities. Through hands-on activities, games, and simple experiments, students collect data and observe outcomes to understand that chance events can be unpredictable.
DON’T FORGET TO KEEP CONSISTENT WITH TIMESTABLES PRACTISE!
Multiplication Masters
A big congratulations to Sonny Mills on achieving your Multiplication Masters last week!
Inquiry
We explored both natural and man-made attractions in Australia and went on our own ‘Travel Guide’ task, creating a mini movie in Clips. This week we have been looking at maps and map features, including compass points, grid lines and legend/key. We will be demonstrating our understanding of maps by creating our very own map next week.
Religious Education
We continue our unit ‘For Creation Praise’. We will be exploring Psalms and Scripture relating to creation.
