Principal's Report

Dear Families,
As Term 4 progresses, there’s a great deal of activity across the College as we prepare for both the conclusion of the current school year and the exciting transitions ahead.
Year 7 2026
Transition work continues as we prepare to welcome our new cohort of Year 7 students for 2026. It’s always a wonderful time to connect with future students and families as they begin their secondary school journey with us. Next Wednesday 12th November, we look forward to seeing our new Year 7 students and families at our information evening.
ACER Testing
Recently, ACER assessments for students were undertaken. These tests provide valuable feedback on student learning progress and help us measure the degree of value adding that occurs through our teaching and learning programs.
I have some exciting news about recent PAT results for Year 7 students show the impact of our Year 7 program to support learning growth in literacy.

Congratulations to the staff and students for their hard work.
Year 12 Students
Before the commencement of exams, Year 12 students enjoyed their much-anticipated Mystery Excursion, a highlight of their final celebrations. The Year 12 Final Assembly was recently held marking the completion of 13 years of schooling — a remarkable achievement, particularly for those who are the first in their family to do so.
Currently, VCE exams are in full swing, following hours of revision and completing practice exam papers. I wish all students the very best but remind students that the ATAR is a rank and does not define you as a person or determine your future. Grit, determination and hard work can create opportunities that will shape your future. Our VCE-VM students recently executed their plans for a colour run. This student-led event, which was a fantastic celebration of leadership and community. Well done to all involved.
Year 9 City Experience
Our rescheduled City Experience for Year 9 students is fast approaching, which will be held on Friday 14th November 2025. This will be an engaging program that encourages independence, teamwork, and real-world learning in the vibrant environment of Melbourne’s CBD.
Commencement Program
Our Commencement Program for all students, which marks the transition into their 2026 classes will start on Monday 24th November, from this time we will move to a five-period day, with a 3.10pm dismissal time. This will match our new timetable for next year.
Staffing and Recruitment
Staff recruitment remains a key focus this term. Interviews for several other positions are also progressing as we continue to add to our team for 2026.
Exiting Academies News
It is an exciting time for our Soccer Academy students. Teams qualified and were invited to attend a Futsal competition this week on the Gold Coast. Best wishes to the teams and represent our school well while demonstrating our school values of Respect, Learning and Working Together.
Student Lockers
During our last School Council Meeting it was agreed, that from the start of the2026 school year, all padlocks used to secure lockers must be school issued. Any unapproved locks will be removed. It should be noted that we have over 800 students onsite each Saturday as part of the Victorian School of Languages, every locker should be secured with a padlock. Lockers belong to the school and at times access is required. School approved locks can be purchased from the front office.
School Review 2026
The Leadership Team has begun preliminary work for our upcoming School Review in Term 1, 2026. While our Reviewer and Challenge Partners are yet to be announced, early preparation ensures a thoughtful and reflective process focused on continued improvement.
Facilities Update
Work has commenced on the creation of a new Health Space/First Aid Room for students. This upgraded facility will provide a more accessible and functional space while reducing foot traffic into the administration area. We anticipate completion in time for the start of the 2026 school year.
I am pleased to announce that our new Maintenance Shed is now completed, the removal of the old sheds will create new recreational space for students to enjoy.
Planning is also underway for improvements to student toilet facilities. The project aims to create safer, more functional spaces with improved visibility.
Planning is also underway for the Walton Courtyard upgrade. This area will assist with flood mitigation, provide an improved locker space for students, landscaping with shade sails and outdoor seating.
- Friday 21st November– Curriculum Day (please note: this is a Student Free Day).
- Tuesday 9th December - Year 7 2026 Orientation Day
As always, I thank our students, staff, and families for their continued support and commitment to our college community.
