Principal's Message
Grade 3/4 Camp to Wombat Corner
Our Grade 3/4 students recently returned from their camp to Wombat Corner. It is wonderful to see the growth in independence and confidence that two days away from home can bring. For many students, this was their first experience managing their belongings, making decisions about their daily routines, and navigating challenges without their families by their side. They rose to the occasion brilliantly. Beyond the exciting activities, the real magic of camp happens in the quieter moments: students helping cabin-mates who were feeling homesick, forming new friendships across classes, and learning to work collaboratively with peers they might not usually spend time with. These experiences are invaluable in developing the social skills and resilience our students need as they grow. We witnessed acts of kindness, leadership, and maturity that made us incredibly proud. Camp is such an important milestone in a child's primary school journey, and we're delighted that our Grade 3/4s embraced the opportunity to step outside their comfort zones and strengthen their connections with one another. Thank you to the staff and community members who supported this important experience.
Zecchino d'Oro Performance
We are incredibly proud of our students who participated in this year's Zecchino d'Oro Italian Children's Song Festival. This event celebrates Italian language and culture through music, and our students did an outstanding job performing on stage in front of a large audience. This event acts as a fantastic pre-curser to the upcoming Coro Del Bambini, our annual Italian concert, being held tomorrow night.
Learning and performing songs in Italian requires dedication, practice, and confidence, and our students demonstrated all of these qualities beautifully. Participating in Zecchino d'Oro and Coro provides students with an authentic and engaging way to develop their Italian language skills while also building performance skills, cultural awareness, and a sense of pride in sharing what they've learned. The experience of rehearsing together, supporting one another, and performing as a group creates lasting memories and strengthens connections between students. Thank you to Maestra Bruna who prepared the students so thoroughly and accompanied them to the festival, and to all the families who supported their children's involvement. Events like Zecchino d'Oro and Coro enrich our school community and remind us of the value of celebrating languages and cultures beyond our own. Bravissimi to all our performers!
Premier's Reading Challenge
Congratulations to all the students who participated in this year's Premier's Reading Challenge. It has been wonderful to see so many of our students embracing the joy of reading and challenging themselves to explore new books and genres. Whether you read adventure stories, non-fiction, poetry, or graphic novels, every book you opened was a step toward building stronger literacy skills and discovering new worlds. To those students who completed the Challenge, well done—you should be very proud of your achievement! I want to remind everyone that the Challenge may be over, but your reading journey continues. I encourage all students to keep that momentum going by visiting our school library, sharing book recommendations with friends, and setting aside time each day to read for pleasure. Reading opens doors to knowledge, creativity, and imagination, and the more we read, the better readers—and learners—we become.
