F-2

This fortnight, the F-2 students have discussed what Artificial Intelligence is and how society uses AI. We discussed the positives of AI and the negatives of AI. The students had to cut and paste what software uses AI, such as Chatbots, Spotify, Netflix and Siri. We discussed how to always be safe online. We also learnt more about the PAINT APP on the Laptops. The students were able to learn how to get creative using Font, Speech Bubbles, Shapes, Colours and Colouring. The 1/2 students also experimented with MICROSOFT WORD APP on the Laptops. They learnt how to type, change their Font (using size and colour) and they learnt to research their likes and 'Copy and Paste' an image from GOOGLE.

Year 3-6

This fortnight, the 3-6 students began to delve deeper into their understanding of Artificial Intelligence. The students discussed its uses in the modern era and the new age of AI. This week, students made CANVA posters about  AI, what AI is, what the history of AI is and the positives and the negatives of AI. These will be displayed in the foyer as reminders to always be safe online in this digital era. When students were finished, students used the SCRATCH APP to create codes to help a Sprite move, dance, sing, talk etc. The 3/4 students also used the PAINT APP to create a picture experimenting with Font, Shape, Speech Bubbles, Colour, Shading and Drawing.

Physical Education [PE] is a tremendous way to get students active while also teaching them important life skills, improve their physical health, and develop a love for being active.

During PE, students will:

  • focus on fundamental skills [e.g. running, catching, balance]
  • play games to reinforce the skills
  • foster social skills
  • celebrate their efforts, building confidence and a love for sport.

Each session will have a:

  • warm-up activity to get their muscles ready
  • skill development activity
  • fun game - teamwork and cooperation.

We have started PE this term by playing students’ favourite games, teaching the skill of running, and for the 5/6s playing Interschool Sports.

In Art during the past fortnight, we have been continuing on with our unit of 'Literacy in Art'.

In Prep classes we created a rainbow fish using watercolour paints and sequins. The students also experimented with textas and adding water to see what would happen.

In Grade 1/2 students have been working on creating polar bears, using pastels and watercolour paint.

They have also used lines and shapes to create an alpaca, based on the text "Macca the alpaca"  and used wool to make a beanie.

The Grade 3/4 cohort have just finished creating their realistic bees. These were created using pastels for the honeycomb background and coloured pencils for the bees.

The Grade 5/6 classes finished their elephant drawings this week and created their own Hama bead designs, which I ironed for them to bind them together.
