Literacy

During Literacy, students have been exploring poetry. We have been looking at features of poetry such as rhythm, repetition, alliteration and onomatopoeia. We have also been experimenting with writing poetry and have learned about diffternt types of poems such as haikus and limericks.

Numeracy

During Numeracy, student have been working to develop their knowledge of division as sharing and grouping. We have also practiced solving worded problems for a range of operations by understanding what the question is asking and identifying key information.

Inquiry - Rules and Laws

The students have explored how values connect to current rules in society. We watched a video to explore the climbing of Uluru. We investigated the name 'Ayers Rock' and the importance of Uluru to the Anangu, the Aboriginal people of  central Australia, as well as the concern for safety. The students we able to make connection to the value of safety of the people climbing, and respect of the local Aboriginal people's beliefs and laws.

School start

School begins at 8:35am sharp. Students will begin their learning by participating in the Morning Circle. If you child is late to school, please make sure they attend the front office to have their attendance recorded as late.

 

Homework/Home Reading

Homework will be given out weekly on Mondays and come back to school on Fridays. Homework includes 1 sheet of 4 activities that support the learning that has happened during class time, and one long chapter book, two shorter chapter books that will last them throughout the week.

 

Tutoring Learning Program - Homework

Students in the Tutoring Learning Initiative (TLI) program with Ms Pino will receive homework on Fridays to be returned on Thursday of the next week. Homework will include the book that we have read and a task or activity that supports the learning. The students also have a reading log to record when they have read the books by themselves and to a parent or older sibling. If homework is not returned on time, children will receive an orange note listing what is missing, and requesting it to be returned as soon as possible.
