Workforce Planning and Staff

As we enter the final and often most demanding term of the school year, many leaders are balancing the dual pressures of concluding 2025 and preparing for the year ahead. Term 4 always brings a unique set of challenges with end-of-year reporting, transition programs, staffing complexities, and the inevitable juggling of competing priorities.
Among the most critical of these is ensuring that all staffing movements and teacher transfers are managed in accordance with the Department’s Recruitment in Schools policy and guidelines. This is particularly relevant for ongoing employees on temporary transfer arrangements, where the base school principal must be notified by 1 November if a transfer is to be extended. If this does not occur, the employee automatically returns to their base school unless both principals agree otherwise.
It is essential that principals remain vigilant in meeting these timelines. Adhering to policy not only ensures compliance but safeguards schools, staff, and students from unnecessary disruption.
