Victorian President's Report
Tina King - APF Victorian President

I had the pleasure of attending the Victorian Education Excellence Awards recently, celebrating the outstanding achievements of teachers, education support staff, and leaders across our system. The evening was a powerful reminder of all that makes our profession great; care, expertise, innovation, and an unwavering commitment to every learner. Congratulations to all finalists and award recipients as your contributions and achievements elevate the standing of the entire profession.
As we move through Term 4, workforce planning is again front and centre. Many of you are navigating complex staffing arrangements with end-of-year movements, temporary transfers, recruitment for 2026, and the ripple effects of leave and program demands. This is also the time when staff grievances are more commonly lodged and members may require representation or support before the Merit Protection Boards. Please ensure all processes align with Department policy, and if in doubt, seek advice or guidance early.
At this time of year, our thoughts are with our secondary colleagues overseeing the VCE examination period. It is a demanding yet rewarding culmination of years of teaching, learning, and dedication. We’re thinking of you and your teams during this intense period and extend our sincere thanks for the care, organisation, and leadership that ensure students experience this important milestone with confidence and support.
Later this week and into next, I’ll be in Perth engaging with our interstate colleagues and attending the APF WA Branch AGM and Seminar. Strengthening these inter-state connections is increasingly valuable for our challenges are shared, and so too are the solutions.
As always, thank you for your leadership in this busiest stretch of the year. Please prioritise your wellbeing and that of your teams and let us know where APF can assist.
