School Wide Positive Behaviour Support

As we wrap up 2025, we’re pleased to share an update on the successful launch of School-Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS) across the College.

Since beginning the framework during STEP UP, students have engaged positively with the new SWPBS Matrix, which is now displayed in all classrooms and throughout the College grounds. Throughout the roll out, staff have continued to explicitly teach the expected behaviours using the College-produced videos, helping to build a consistent understanding of what Respect, Responsibility and Safety look like in all settings.

Positive Behaviour Points (PBP) in Action

We are excited to report that students have embraced the opportunity to earn Positive Behaviour Points (PBP) for demonstrating the expected behaviours. Some highlights from this term include:

  • Total Positive Behaviour Points Chronicles entered: 5,065
  • Most frequently recognised category: Be Safe
  • Year level with the highest average PBPs: 2026 Year 8

These results reflect the strong commitment shown by both students and staff in creating a positive, predictable and supportive learning environment.

The Vault – A Student Favourite!

A key part of the SWPBS system is “The Vault,” where students can redeem their PBPs for items and experiences. It has been wonderful to see students celebrating their positive choices and taking pride in their achievements.

Below are a few moments captured throughout the term: [insert images of students enjoying The Vault]

Seeing students engaging so enthusiastically reinforces the impact of SWPBS in promoting positive behaviour, building confidence, and strengthening our school community.

Looking Ahead

Next year, we will continue to teach, reinforce and celebrate positive behaviours, with ongoing opportunities for students to earn PBPs and access The Vault. We look forward to sharing more data and highlights with you as the year progresses.

Thank you for your ongoing support as we continue to embed SWPBS across the College.

Wellbeing

As we wrap up another incredible year, the Wellbeing Team is proud to celebrate the achievements and growth we’ve seen across our school community. Our small-group programs have continued to empower students with skills in resilience, emotional regulation and peer connection. Lunchtime programs have provided safe, fun and inclusive spaces for students to build friendships and take a break during busy school days.

We’ve also strengthened our cultural celebrations and connections, partnering closely with students and families to honour identity, build belonging and create meaningful opportunities for cross-cultural learning. Alongside this, our team has continued to provide one-on-one support for students navigating challenges- ensuring every young person feels seen, supported and heard.

We are incredibly proud of the work achieved this year and grateful for the trust our students place in us. Below, we’re delighted to introduce the members of our Wellbeing Team and share some of their individual highlights from 2024.

Nicole Price – Wellbeing Leader

A real highlight for me this year was our collaboration with Cranbourne East Primary School to celebrate NAIDOC Week. Our Koorie students visited the Prep classes to read First Nations stories, followed by a joint celebration with Koorie students from both schools. It was a truly beautiful opportunity for connection, cultural pride and shared learning, and I was so proud to see the incredible leadership our students showed throughout. I have also really enjoyed delivering Wellbeing professional learning for staff. It was a wonderful reminder of how deeply our staff value and prioritise student wellbeing

Maggie Francis – Assistant Wellbeing Leader

It has been such an amazing year supporting so many strong, thoughtful, and kind young people. My highlight has been seeing the social, emotional, and learning growth of the students I’ve worked with. I absolutely love celebrating their wins with them, and that has truly made my year. I can’t wait to move into the senior school space next year and continue working with so many wonderful young people.

Alan Yin – Mental Health Practitioner

My highlight has been has been supporting our students on their journey and watching them grow and thrive. The students being able to share their stories has been a privilege and especially grateful for the bro code club where 25+ boys developed friendships and connection.

Cathy Joseph – Counsellor

I feel extremely grateful to have returned to Cranbourne East Secondary College and to once again be surrounded by such a supportive and inspiring community. One of my greatest highlights has been witnessing the students I first met as Year 7’s in 2020 graduate as Year 12’s this year

Sarah Bentley – Junior School Counsellor

This year has been filled with so many wonderful things, thank you to all of my year 7 and 8 students I have loved supporting you through 2025. The BFF club saw 35+ girls attend each week and I can’t wait to see it grow even more in 2026. Have a safe and happy holidays

We are also thrilled to introduce our new counsellor, Francis Fanchette. Francis will be working across all year levels and has already brought incredible energy to the team and has quickly formed strong, positive connections with both students and staff.

A message from Francis;

My time at Cranbourne East may have begun at the end of the year, but it already feels great to be part of this wonderful team. For me working in schools, being able to support young people at such a transitional point in their lives has been a goal. I am thankful for the privilege of being able to do for the past 3 years. I cannot wait to build connections and continue my journey here in 2026.

As the holiday period can be difficult for some, we’d like to remind students and families of the support services they can access over the break.

We wish you a wonderful school holiday break and look forward to another positive and connected year in 2026 in the Wellbeing space.
