Japanese

Kaori Bawden

Konnichiwa from Japanese class and welcome back to Term 3. I would like to show families how we finished last term in Japanese. Foundation students made rice balls for the first time. We also learned about the famous Japanese folktale called "Omusugi Kororin". We all made a rice ball each with a pinch of salt and seaweed.   For Grades 1, 2 and 3, this was their second time making rice balls and everyone knew the story and the students even remembered how to sing the song we learned last year. It is simple to make, and is a typical Japanese lunch to make your belly full.

My apologies for Grades 4, 5 and 6 as we didn't take any photos. They made some Hiragana characters with gingerbread and vanilla cookies and it was really hard to handle the dough. Although students did their best and ate their cookies at the end. The cookies were made with special dough that was soft and crumbly.

Well, that's all from Japanese class. We will have the Japanese Fun Day on 5th of September. It is sure to be a fun day, there will be  a costume parade, Japanese Drumming and lots more to plan and prepare. Looking forward to see those beautiful smiles again this term.

Don't hesitate to contact me for any concerns and inquiries.
