Principal's Message
Dear parents, students and families,
The highlight of the week has been our annual Italian Day yesterday. Signora Morina plans this event meticulously every year and I trust this was a great experience for our students and staff. Thanks to our P and F for supporting the day.
On Tuesday night I understand that a Foundation Mum's dinner was held at the Seaford RSL and it was a huge success! There were 25 mums in total, a mix of existing and new St Anne's families. Thank you to the parents that organised this on behalf of the group. These are opportunities to begin building relationships that may exist long into the future when St Anne's PS is a distant memory.
Tomorrow we are holding a 5/6 Student Leadership Workshop. We hope this helps our students grow in their abilities to be even better role models for our younger students. It is also the Winter Solstice, meaning it is the shortest day of the year. I am sure many of you will be looking to add an extra minute of sunshine each day from Saturday!
Next week of course we have our second lot of parent/teacher interviews for the year on Wednesday 26 June 3.40-5.55pm and Thursday 27 June 1.10-5.40pm. These interviews are at school and for all students. These meetings will provide an opportunity to reflect on the report you will have just received and discuss goals for the second half of the year. Parents with students in Years 3-6 are welcome to include their child as part of the discussion.
The smooth running of our event relies on all parents keeping to the timetable. Meetings will begin at your commencement time and run for just under 15 minutes. Please consider other parents and end on time. If you need more time with a particular teacher, arrange a separate meeting or phone call.
To book your spot/s please go to https://www.schoolinterviews.com.au/code/fwawx
With interviews commencing at 1.10pm on Thursday 27 June school will conclude at 1pm on this day. Thank you for making arrangements.
Next week also contains a wide variety of activities besides the interviews. On Monday the Year 5/6 students will be going to Scienceworks for their excursion and on Thursday some of of senior students will be representing our school in an inter-school soccer competition. Wednesday evening our students and their parents are required to attend a Confirmation Preparation Evening in our Church at 6.30pm to begin their journey towards being confirmed in October by Bishop Ireland. Mrs Winduss will also be absent next week and we wish her all the best for this brief period of Long Service Leave.
Tomorrow, I will be embarking on a rich professional learning experience in the Northern Territory with the Peninsula Principals Network. This journey will provide us with an invaluable opportunity to deepen our own personal understanding of our First Nations People, their unique culture, and their enduring traditions. Immersing ourselves in the rich heritage and diverse practices of Indigenous communities, we aim to gain a profound appreciation of their history, knowledge, and perspectives. I look forward to sharing this learning with staff and students next term and am grateful to Mrs Thomas who will be stepping into the role of Acting Principal for the last six days of term.
God Bless
