Writer's Program at QHPS

Last Thursday, a few of our 3/4 students enjoyed attending a Writer's Workshop at Quarry Hill Primary School with published author, Lorraine Marwood. She shared a variety of stories (including her own), worked with our students and provided them with plenty of advice and tools to inspire them in their own writing journeys!

Thankyou to Mrs Brewer for organising this event and also to Miss Mitchell for accompanying our students for the day.

Radio Awareness for Kids (Incursion)

This week, students had lots of fun bringing their own radio program to life! In teams, they had to come up with a name for their radio program, select a host and discuss what segments they would like to include in their program. After having time to plan and practise, students then recorded their short program - sound effects included! Everyone had such a wonderful time and it was great to see so many creative ideas and performances!

A massive thankyou to John Broughton from 'Radio Awareness for Kids' for coming and running this workshop for us. A big thankyou also to Mr Daenke for organising this incursion.

Learning in Weeks 1 & 2 (Term 3)

Mathematics: In our Applied Maths sessions, students will be exploring 'Mass' and 'Capacity' by looking at different containers and reading scales. In Fluid Groups, we will be considering 'Time', including how to read analogue and digital clocks and focusing on the calendar year.

Writing & Reading: The 2024 Paris Olympic games are fast approaching. To help prepare and celebrate this exciting event, we will spend time reading, researching and writing information about some of our Australian Olympians and the sports that they will be competing in.

Topic: Well done to each of our students for their fantastic Campaign Posters!

Next semester, we will be starting a new unit called 'First Contact' where we will explore the impact of the First Fleet's arrival as seen through the perspectives of the convicts who were on board and our First Nations people.
