SUN PROTECTION POLICY
The purpose of this policy is to create school environments that support sun protection behaviours to minimise the risk of health problems from sun overexposure, including skin cancer. Schools are advised to support staff and students to use a combination of sun-protection measures – including hats – when UV index levels are three or above.
This is beginning to occur on a regular basis with the lovely sunshine we are experiencing. It will soon, this term, become compulsory to wear a hat to school and students will be encouraged to seek shade when the UV is greater than 3. "No Hat, No Play."
HATS
Students and staff should wear hats which protect the face, back of the neck, eyes and ears. These include:
- broad-brimmed hats
- legionnaire hats
- bucket hats.
Baseball or peaked caps and sun visors are not considered a suitable alternative, as they do not protect the ears, cheeks or neck.
Our school sports hats are purchased directly with C-Me Uniforms.
Please see the Sun Protection Policy and further information for families attached below. The policy can also be located on the school's website.
