Year 5/6 Phillip Island Adventure Camp -31/07/24–2/08/24

Recently the Year 5/6 students embarked on this year’s senior camp to Phillip Island.  There was a lot of excitement and some nervousness when stepping onto the bus.  Our journey was smooth, and we visited the Nobbies to start our adventure.  Afterwards, we arrived to an inviting campsite and gloriously sunny weather.

Once settled into our cabins, there was much to find out and do.

Students participated in a range of fun activities.

The Circatron had the students in a spin.  With feet locked into the boots and hands firmly on the bars, they went round and round, appreciating their surroundings from many different angles.

The flying fox had them zipping from end to the other.  There were many delighted yells as they flew past their peers.

The pedal cars were a great opportunity to put students’ and teachers’ driving skills to the test. There were races, where people zoomed and weaved their way around the course.  Many trying to achieve the fastest possible speed.

The Giant Swing challenged our campers, but those who were brave were thrilled to have conquered their fears.

The Pinnacle required strength and determination to get up the haphazardly positioned rocks.  Those reaching the top found the hidden image.  Many tried their hardest to best the camp record of less then 6 seconds.

Laser Tag brought out our competitive sides. There was much running and strategizing.  Pew, pew!

In the spirit of the Olympics, we had our own mini-Olympics competition where students showed their teamwork and agility.  They worked together to be faster, higher and stronger than their competitors.

Damper was a chance to do a little cooking. The challenge was to carefully wrap the dough around a stick and then slowly and carefully cook it in the open fire.   After a few minutes in the coals, they took out their bush bread and smothered it in the various condiments.  There were many satisfied cooks.

Camp was a wonderful opportunity for students to grow and make new memories.
