Foundation, Year One and Two; 

Term Topic: Body parts and the Mid-Autumn Festival

The Foundation, Year One and Two students are going to name some facial and body parts in Chinese. They will identify and write/drawbasic Chinese characters including person, head, eyes, ears, mouth,hands and feet. 

 

They will learn a folklore story about the Mid-Autumn Festival as well as sing two songs including ‘If You Are Happy, You Clap Your Hands’ and ‘Head, Shoulders, and Toes’ in Chinese.

 

Year Three and Four

Term Topic:  Chinese Food and the Mid-Autumn Festival

Year Three and Four students will explore Chinese cuisines and food. They are learning how to say and write “Rice, Spring rolls, Dumplings,Noodles, Chinese crepes, Sui-mai, Bun, Egg tart, and Mooncake in Chinese. They are going to tell their preference for food via a Mandarin Rap ‘I like to eat Chinese Food’. 

 

They will find out why Chinese people come together to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival, one of the most important traditional festivals in Chinese culture,and eat mooncakes on the day.

 

Year Five & Six

Term Topic: Chinese Food, Chopsticks and the Mid-Autumn Festival 

Year Five and Six students will explore Chinese cuisines and food. They are learning how to say and write Rice, Spring rolls,Dumplings, Noodles, Chinese crepes, Sui-mai, Bun, Egg tart, Mooncake in Chinese. They are going to describe their preference for food via a Mandarin Rap ‘I like to eat Chinese Food’ and, practice the etiquettes and techniques of using chopsticks. They will find outwhy Chinese people come together to celebrate the Mid-AutumnFestival, one of the most important traditional festivals in Chineseculture, and eat mooncakes on the day.
