Dear Parents and Students,

Welcome back to Term 3  I trust everyone enjoyed a fantastic holiday. The children have settled quickly back into the school routine. There are lots exciting things happening this term across the school.

Some of these extra curricular activities include:

Preps 100 days of school

Concert

Hooptime

Year 3/4 SIENA ASPIRE - Girls

Fathers Day

Book Week

and many more.

I look forward to a wonderful term of learning for our students.

Classroom visits

I am taking every opportunity possible to visit classrooms in order to get to  know the students and what they are doing in class.  This is the part of my job that I enjoy most.  The standard of work that the children are completing and the variety of activities that the teachers are providing them is amazing.  We truly do have a great learning community at OLGC.

Staffing

Below are the staffing changes for this Semester. We have been fortunate to have employed four LSOs to provide extra support throughout the school.

LSOs

Carmel Brennan,  Roe Maas,  Sonia Skliros and Sophie Altman to provide further support in the classroom.

Fiona Clifford is replacing Julie in 1/2MM allowing Julie to  spend greater time in her roles as REL and Learning Diversity Leader.

Tash Dettman will be taking  one day of  Stem this Term and Leah Blake ( Art teacher)  will be in 3/4KM on a Friday.

Joyce Dunn has returned to being the full time teacher of I/2D.

We welcome all the  new staff members to OLGC.  If you see them around say Hi.

As you are aware Rachel (3/4KM)  Paul (1/2D) and Charlotte (LSO) have all taken up positions in different schools. We thank them for their contribution to our school.  We wish them the best.

100 Days of school ( Prep)

On Tuesday the 6th August our Preps will be celebrating 100 days of school. This is an exciting time for them.  It would be great to see as many Prep parents in the morning and at a special  assembly.

Victoria Dang

Victoria Dang is competing  at the School Sport Australia Championship on the Gold Coast  . She is representing Victoria in 100m backstroke, 50m backstroke, 100m freestyle and 200m IM. We wish her all the best and can't wait to hear how she has performed.

Major Fundraiser

Our Major Fundraiser is quickly approaching!! The PA have done an amazing job of putting the night together. It promises to be a night of fun and laughter.   If you have not bought your tickets yet, I ask that you do so ASAP, so that we can open up ticket sales to previous members of the OLGC community.
