Athletics Carnival information (25 July), event action required & volunteers needed

Dear Parents and Carers,

All students will participate in our upcoming Athletics Carnival on Thursday, 25th July, at Cook Oval.

Students will be supervised by St Joseph’s staff. Please note that students aged 8 years and older will have the opportunity of gaining selection to represent our school at the ADPSC Athletics Carnival on 9th August in Tamworth.

Students will be required to be transported to Cook Oval by 8:50 am (supervision starts at 8:30 am) and collected by 3 pm. Forest Coach Lines will also transport students who usually take the bus to and from Cook Oval. This is an all-day event.

Students are required to wear their sports uniform, and are also invited to wear house colours if they would like. Please pack a hat, sunscreen, water bottle, snacks and lunch. Parents are welcome to attend.

Please note that if you are unsure about which sporting house your child is in, St Joseph’s (blue) or St Andrew’s (red), this can be found on their profile via Compass (by selecting/tapping their photo).

  • Discus

The schedule for the track and field events held at Cook Oval, and further information regarding canteen preorders on the carnival day will be communicated in the coming weeks.

As always, an event like this cannot be run successfully without the assistance of helpers. If you are able to volunteer to help out on the day with the canteen or to measure and record with Discus, Long Jump or Shot Put (which would be greatly appreciated!), please go to https://bit.ly/43RsrVo. An invite will be sent to you via Compass closer to the date to confirm.

Each event will have a supervising staff member to support timing, recording and measuring.

Please note that a timetable rotation for volunteers will be confirmed closer to the date as well. We understand that parents would like to watch their own children participate in their events, and having more volunteers will make this easier to arrange.

All volunteers will be provided with a free coffee, Morning Tea and Lunch, with an order form communicated closer to the date.

For further information and to action the event, access the Events page via your child’s profile on the Compass app or go to https://stjosephsweewaa-nsw.compass.education/Organise/Activities/Events/  by Thursday, 27th June.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the school office.

Kind Regards,

St Joseph’s Primary
