Spelling Bee Champions
Last week we held our school spelling bee. This was to find a student in Stage 2 and 3 to represent our school at the Regional Premier's Spelling Bee to be held in August. Eight students in each Stage slugged it out to be named champion. Congratulations to Jai (Stage 2) and Maddie (Stage 3) who came out victorious. Runners up were Emalie (Stage 2) and Ted (Stage 3).
PSSA News
Congratulations to Quade on being selected in the North West PSSA soccer team to play in the state championships next term. From all reports a couple of other students were very close to being selected.
We also had students attend the netball and girl's soccer trials without success.
On Thursday, a number of students will travel to Coolah for the North West Cross Country. We wish them success.
Finally, on Friday, our boy's soccer team will play in the soccer knockout gala day at Rologas fields. They'll play two games, the first at 11.00am.
Creatures of a night
As I mentioned in a previous edition of the newsletter, earlier this term, the school had a Water Troff installed with a motion sensing camera. The troff provides a water source off the ground away from predators for birds and mammals that live in the trees. Last week we checked the camera for the first time and was pleasantly surprised to see that we have a resident sugar glider. We now eagerly await to see what else is living in and around the school.
Assembly - Kindergarten Presenting
This Friday Kindergarten will present at the assembly. The assembly will start at 12.30pm.
PAX WORD of the FORTNIGHT:
- To be prepared you are well-organised and ready to go. Being prepared involves the ability to establish the tasks that you need to do, by when and how.
- Being prepared means being ready for learning and is a crucial skill not only for academic success but for life.
- Teachers and parents have good preparation skills (usually!).
- Teachers prepare and are organised for a day of teaching and learning. Teachers must be prepared to help you learn.
- Parents and carers prepare you for school in the morning, maybe make you breakfast or have the ingredients in the fridge/cupboard so you can make your own.
- Being prepared means being organised and ready to engage in learning.
- How do you prepare and get organised for learning?
ATTENDANCE MATTERS
Let's hope that now we've all had a small midterm break the attendance rates will improve.
