Learning in Year 6

Learning Is Rewarding

The Year Six students showed consistent and tireless work to learn and embrace the knowledge of integers. They showed excellence in finishing their work flawlessly. It was a perfect experience to use masking tape as a number line and locate integers on it with peer collaboration. Integers can be used in various situations for example, elevators and temperature, and by learning about it, we absolutely had better understanding when it applies to real life scenarios.

They also published flawless poems into their books. They immersed themselves into deep emotional memories and they were very brave to share them with peers. They also learnt heaps of new descriptive words and tried their best to create imagery and figurative sentences. Year 6 students appreciated each others' deep thoughts by demonstrating respectful listening during presentations. They enjoyed creating beautiful and poetic stanzas for their Haiku and free verse poems.

"The Month of Giving"

Written by Ali 6B

Evils worst nightmares

As the darkness starts to fade

Light comes in the way

Eccentric joy and laughter in the air

As the month of giving comes in affair

Fantastic fasting obediently

As you will be feasibly rewarded

Festival lights bleed beautifully in the sky

You can’t even lie

Rumbling tummies and good spirit all around

Selfless donations and charity make the world a better place

One in a life opportunity, Ramadan is something

You can’t waste

"Run"

Written by Vidhatri 6B

Heat creeping up my throat, hair singed, clothed burned

People might just end up dead

Homes become forest fires. I heard cutthroat scream.

Can’t turn back

The fire in an unrelenting rage

Fiercely licking the trees.

Run run, burned bodies fall

Run run, black snow ash coddles tight

Run run, might not make it out alive

My legs bear heavier, panting, running

Sweat pouring down like heavy rain

Run run, will I make it?

Run run, loud silence screams heavier

Trying to escape a locked door but it holds the key

I see her fall

And I see the fire consume her alive

Merciless.

Run run, I can’t no more

Run run, I face the fiery storm.
