Principal's News

Dear Families & Friends,
It has been an extremely busy week for all our children and in particular our Year 3 & 5 students who have all now completed their NAPLAN tests for 2026. Whilst you may have heard in the media that many schools faced technical challenges on Monday we managed to get through all these online tests without any difficulty thanks to the work done in the lead up by our staff and IT support. Later on in the year all results will be collated and individual student reports will be sent to families. Whole school data will also be available for the school which compares our results with the rest of Australia as well as similar schools. The data reports allow us to look at trends in our student learning in each of the areas covered to identify both strengths and challenges so that we can develop whole school goals for further improvement. Thank you to all our Year 3 & 5 parents for your support also.
Easter Raffle
Thank you to all those who have already made donations to our Easter Raffle which has been organized by our Parents & Friends committee. Each child has been given a book of raffle tickets with a book of 10 costing $10.00 Please write the name of the person purchasing the ticket along with your child's name and class. You can also purchase tickets online using the payment link included HERE: Easter Raffle Tickets.
Guess the Number of Easter Egg
Thanks again to Archie, Saul and Josh for organizing our Guess the Easter Egg competition which will be drawn at the end of term. Children can have as many guesses as they like with only their last guess counting. Please see our T&Cs below.
Building Update
So far so good with the building plans and all is going to schedule. Each fortnight I meet with the architects and builders to discuss the progress and address any issues or changes to the plans. The builders we have engaged are extremely experienced in working with schools and are doing their best to minimize noise and disruptions during the peak learning periods. They have timetabled some significant demolition work for the school holidays which will make a big difference for the senior classes and specialists upstairs.
St Patrick's Day
On March 17th many Catholics around the world celebrated St Patrick's Feast Day. Here at Trinity many staff and students marked the day by wearing a touch of green. Children learnt a little bit about this saint and his significance especially for the people of Ireland.
Home Learning Policy
A number of years ago, at Trinity, we surveyed our families in regard to Home Leaning (Homework). As you would expect there was a wide range of responses with many families requesting more, others requesting less and those who would be happy if their children had none. There is of course much research around the impact of home learning for older and younger children. I have included HERE just one such article which provides a look at some of the Pros & cons of Homework . As part of our next review of our Home Learning Policy, later on this year, we will once again survey parents as part of our ongoing committment to involving our parents in the decision making processes we have at Trinity.
AAP Goals (Annual Action Plan)
As many of you are aware, each year the school develops an Annual Action Plan to identify a few specific goals in Literacy, Numeracy and other broader areas of the curriculum. Our 2026 AAP is complete and I have shared below some of the identified priority areas and school goals. Whilst some goals refer to specific year levels, our work and improvement will be seen across all year levels.
Harmony Week
This week we have acknowledged Harmony Week and tomorrow all children are asked to wear a touch of orange which is the universal colour for harmony.
Harmony Week
Monday 16 - Sunday 22 March 2026
Harmony Week is the celebration that recognises our diversity and brings together Australians from all different backgrounds.
It’s about inclusiveness, respect and a sense of belonging for everyone.
AFL Player Visit
On Tuesday we were lucky to have a visit from a number of Richmond AFL Players who came and spoke to our Year 3/4s about what it is like to be an AFL player, the challenges and the highlights. Each player answered a series of questions from our children from, 'What's the hardest thing about being a Football player?' to 'How long can you be a football player and what will you do after that?' Great questions which kept the players on their toes. Special thanks to Ms Violet who volunteered to host the players.
Prep Fire Fighters Visit
A major highlight of the Preps first term was a visit from our local firefighters this week. As always, our amazing preps were full of interesting and challenging questions for our visitors. In fact to make things real the firefighters were called out to an actual emergency during their visit so have promised to come back again to visit the children with their fire truck.
2027 Prep Enrolments & Siblings
I am currently busy throughout the week meeting with families who are considering Trinity Primary School for their child in 2027. Many of these families are choosing Trinity because they know about the school, have heard great things about the school or already have children at Trinity. Other families are doing the rounds and visiting multiple schools before making a final decision. If you have a child you wish to enrol for next year's Prep intake please ensure you have completed the Online Enquiry HERE even if you currently
